Walk In Investigators…The Book!

One of our members, Joyce Kostakis has written her first book, a Paranormal Detective Mystery, and it’s got a Supper Club Connection…the psychic development group is based on our own Traveling Psychic Supper Club – and it’s available literally everywhere.  Kindle, Barnes and Noble, Amazon, even Austin’s very own Bookpeople…see the photo – it’s on their best seller table!

This is a great read with lots of wonderful twists and turns, and has been very well accepted.  If you like mysteries, are drawn to the paranormal, want to check out some real life experiences that Joyce drew from (that I personally can attest to), check it out.  This book is also a great way to learn about “real life” paranormal experiences with straight forward language, real experiences from real people, not “out there” metaphysical types, but down to earth people using their psy skills in real life.

Send any comments for Joyce my way, and if you like it, there’s great news – this is the first book in a series.

You many even recognize the woman on the cover…  😉  to see more about the book on Goodreads, click the pic below.  Coming soon, an interview with me and Joyce.  Although the Traveling Psychic Supper Club group that met monthly has been put to bed, I guess we’ll be forever immortalized in print!

A Video Tarot Reading

For the last 3 years I’ve been saying I wanted to start doing videos.  This is the first attempt and it’s a simple tarot reading I did a while back.  My plans – after working on the TPSC sizzle reel – which never became a reality tv show -which I am grateful for – that it never became a show and for the experience – I kept feeling drawn to YouTube, I felt like “I have to do this my way”.  So here is the first video.

If you have any thoughts I really would love to hear them.  I  want to get better at making videos.  I have lots of ideas of just fun stuff I want to do.  Interviews are next, and I’ll keep throwing readings on here too.   Continue reading “A Video Tarot Reading”

This is fun…Is it Gold and White or Blue and Black – Perception over a Dress, and “Real” Life

Ok which did you see?  Gold and White or Blue and Black – It’s all about perception – Wired story to follow…

whitegold

Let’s play a game, let’s “Lay” the Gold/White, NO!  Blue/Black argument over ANY situation in life.  People are seriously going crazy about this.  I saw the picture and and said Blue/Black.  Actually it was more like Lavender/Black.  I showed Jim, same response.  I marveled over it for about …. 5 minutes.  Then I forgot about it and moved the F on.  I opened FB today and saw it trending…still.  It made me think of how long we have to hold onto our arguments, and how people jumping on one side or the other just perpetuates those arguments.  Just read ANY article on FB’s comments to see this.  And not just about dress color, things we “perceive” as the BIG STUFF!  Open Carry is a big one right now in the great state of Texas – so I’ll work with that.  Each side has their perception, and knows, absolutely, 100% sure they are right.  I’ve had my own opinions, but why does it matter?  It makes as much sense to argue about it as it does about this dress.  Especially in comments.  You can sit behind the keys of a computer and spew whatever your thoughts are all day long, whether Liberal or Conservative and it matters about as much as the color of this dress.  For some reason people have to attach to something – a perception that is RIGGGGHHHHHTTTT and profess it, attach to it, hold it up for everyone to see.  THIS IS IMPORTANT!!  LISTEN!  THIS IS RIGHT!!!  YOU ARE STUPID, PORK CHOP – yes, I actually read this a couple of days ago.  Pork chop.  But actually he spelled it wrong, he said Pork cop.  Kind of lost the zing…and made me laugh.  It just reminded me
this is all words, attached to perceptions.  And they are all about as important as if this dress is white or blue.  Depending on what computer you are looking at, the color changes.  Depending on what pic the person posted the color changes.  It’s not rocket science.  It’s fun, to think about for about a minute, but don’t lose your mind thinking about it.  Just see what you see, have fun with it, instead of arguing about it, and just move the F on with your day.  Don’t attach all your attention to what ends up being a perception.  Don’t get mad, don’t fight.  Just look at it, say, huh, interesting.

Keep your opinions to yourself, Pork Chop.

Have a happy day.  Here is the Wired story below.

The original image is in the middle. At left, white-balanced as if the dress is white-gold. At right, white-balanced to blue-black.

Not since Monica Lewinsky was a White House intern has one blue dress been the source of so much consternation.

(And yes, it’s blue.)

The fact that a single image could polarize the entire Internet into two aggressive camps is, let’s face it, just another Thursday. But for the past half-day, peopleacross social media have been arguing about whether a picture depicts a perfectly nice bodycon dress as blue with black lace fringe or white with gold lace fringe. And neither side will budge. This fight is about more than just social media—it’s about primal biology and the way human eyes and brains have evolved to see color in a sunlit world.

Light enters the eye through the lens—different wavelengths corresponding to different colors. The light hits the retina in the back of the eye where pigments fire up neural connections to the visual cortex, the part of the brain that processes those signals into an image. Critically, though, that first burst of light is made of whatever wavelengths are illuminating the world, reflecting off whatever you’re looking at. Without you having to worry about it, your brain figures out what color light is bouncing off the thing your eyes are looking at, and essentially subtracts that color from the “real” color of the object. “Our visual system is supposed to throw away information about the illuminant and extract information about the actual reflectance,” says Jay Neitz, a neuroscientist at the University of Washington. “But I’ve studied individual differences in color vision for 30 years, and this is one of the biggest individual differences I’ve ever seen.” (Neitz sees white-and-gold.)

Usually that system works just fine. This image, though, hits some kind of perceptual boundary. That might be because of how people are wired. Human beings evolved to see in daylight, but daylight changes color. That chromatic axis varies from the pinkish red of dawn, up through the blue-white of noontime, and then back down to reddish twilight. “What’s happening here is your visual system is looking at this thing, and you’re trying to discount the chromatic bias of the daylight axis,” says Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist who studies color and vision at Wellesley College. “So people either discount the blue side, in which case they end up seeing white and gold, or discount the gold side, in which case they end up with blue and black.” (Conway sees blue and orange, somehow.)

We asked our ace photo and design team to do a little work with the image in Photoshop, to uncover the actual red-green-blue composition of a few pixels. That, we figured, would answer the question definitively. And it came close.

Unknown

In the image as presented on, say, BuzzFeed, Photoshop tells us that the places some people see as blue do indeed track as blue. But…that probably has more to do with the background than the actual color. “Look at your RGB values. R 93, G 76, B 50. If you just looked at those numbers and tried to predict what color that was, what would you say?” Conway asks.

So…kind of orange-y?

“Right,” says Conway. “But you’re doing this very bad trick, which is projecting those patches on a white background. Show that same patch on a neutral black background and I bet it would appear orange.” He ran it through Photoshop, too, and now figures that the dress is actually blue and orange.

The point is, your brain tries to interpolate a kind of color context for the image, and then spits out an answer for the color of the dress. Even Neitz, with his weird white-and-gold thing, admits that the dress is probably blue. “I actually printed the picture out,” he says. “Then I cut a little piece out and looked at it, and completely out of context it’s about halfway in between, not this dark blue color. My brain attributes the blue to the illuminant. Other people attribute it to the dress.”

Even WIRED’s own photo team—driven briefly into existential spasms of despair by how many of them saw a white-and-gold dress—eventually came around to the contextual, color-constancy explanation. “I initially thought it was white and gold,” says Neil Harris, our senior photo editor. “When I attempted to white-balance the image based on that idea, though, it didn’t make any sense.” He saw blue in the highlights, telling him that the white he was seeing was blue, and the gold was black. And when Harris reversed the process, balancing to the darkest pixel in the image, the dress popped blue and black. “It became clear that the appropriate point in the image to balance from is the black point,” Harris says.So when context varies, so will people’s visual perception. “Most people will see the blue on the white background as blue,” Conway says. “But on the black background some might see it as white.” He even speculated, perhaps jokingly, that the white-gold prejudice favors the idea of seeing the dress under strong daylight. “I bet night owls are more likely to see it as blue-black,” Conway says.

At least we can all agree on one thing: The people who see the dress as white are utterly, completely wrong.

Creating Catalysts – Psi-Mind, Evolution and Accessing Upper Intelligence

It’s been a while and again, of course TPSC has undergone a change, but it’s part of a long line of evolution…

we’ve gone from social – raising the flag to draw those first key individuals, all of whom have moved on, or mostly moved on….worked on the beginnings of a TV show – which showed me I can’t conform to be something I’m not, I don’t fit into a box.  When we were doing that I was worried all the time, is this what a network would want?  Am I doing this the right way?  Is this going to be put together in a way that represents what I’m truly trying to convey?  So even though the show didn’t materialize – it did it’s job.  It showed me I have to be exactly who I am and not worry about what other people think.

During that time TPSC also became a radio show – we are broadcast every Thursday evening at 5:00pm central time on www.paramaniaradio.com  – if you miss a show or would like to go back and listen to old shows TPSC is available on demand here: http://paramaniaradio.com/On-Demand.php?ondemanddir=Traveling%20Psychic%20Supper%20Club – there are currently 53 shows available – and you can listen on the site or download them.  The radio show broadened the reach, and it brought in yet more amazing minds who continue on with me today.  Others that are living this life, utilizing the skills we all have available to us.  I value and reach out to these minds on a regular basis, check in and continue to evaluate my own growth.  For these people and relationships I am eternally grateful.

And the evolution has continued.  Now TPSC is a focused development and study group, meeting again in Austin, Texas.  We are monthly again, not around food, but around information.  In my own personal evolution I have become a researcher and am
daily gaining knowledge and information about that which exists outside of us.  Information that our Psi-mind can access.  In the future this blog will be used as a source to store information about my research, as a place to reach others that are doing similar research, even in fringe areas, and of course to connect with readers and share information.  TPSC is no longer a social group, that time has past.  We have always been about development, but now the time has come to push all…for lack of a better word – bullshit aside.  It’s time to get down to it.  There is work to be done.  Another thing:  I’m not adding pretty pictures, I don’t care about SEO.  If you find this page, it’s because you were meant to be here.  I’m not using internet tricks to draw traffic to this page.

And to the skeptics I say:  Just because you – you yourself personally, or who you represent  – don’t see something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.  You can say all you want about me, fellow researchers, fellow Psi-minded, it doesn’t matter.  There are those of us already accessing and living full and growing lives utilizing our Psi skills.  Your fear and need to admonish us only keeps other people away and closed off from their ingrained God given Upper Intelligence.  Many people are living rich full lives, where there is no division between the Psi-mind and the “human” mind.  We are here, we are accessing what exists and is available to all of us.  Shame on you for keeping people in the dark.  There is a tipping point coming.  Fear can hide what exists for only so long.  And I extend an invitation:  Join us any time.  🙂
