HOW?  How does this happen?  It’s simple – we created Dylann Roof.

WHY?  Because we needed him.  We needed him to do what he did to STOP what we will not.  Because we CHOOSE our own tragedies.  You may not like it, but it is what it is  and it is the truth.  Dylann Roof is all of us, all of our anger, all of our blame, all of our rage and frustration.  For months people have been coming together in the streets – not to resolve, but to  fight.  To argue, to push each other’s buttons.  For months this has escalated, growing when it could have been stopped, when one person could have come out and said, wait, what are we doing here?  Let’s slow down and sit down.  Let’s come together, everyone recognizes there’s a problem – what’s the solution.  LET’S TALK.  But that didn’t happen.  Well, I take that back, it happened in moments, in small places, but if cameras caught it, it was not news.  I did see this wonderful photo, that was passed around Facebook, but it didn’t make news for days over and over, it wasn’t a stokable fire.  Better to let it go away quietly, than possibly make a difference.

Throughout the tensions Leaders kept quiet, and the ones who didn’t pushed it in the other direction – just pushed it FORWARD, just fanned the flames.  Tensions were raised on BOTH SIDES.  The MEDIA pushed the bloodshed like a drug.  And we all took the pill.

Then Dylann Roof happened.  Because as humans this is the way we need it to be.  We don’t learn.  We don’t change.  So, a Dylann Roof is what is called a Necessary Evil – we’ve seen him before, in Newtown, in the  Washington Sniper attacks. We make it –  something SO terrible that stops us in our tracks, that forces us to come together, in pain, in sorrow, in the streets again, connected as brothers, crying and wailing  and asking the question….”WHY?”

THIS IS WHY.  We do it again and again, we can’t come together on our own, we require a tragedy.  So here it is, at our feet, a gruesome mass murder, in a church, loving people gathered in prayer, who WELCOMED this man into their circle.  The worst possible HATE CRIME – created from our collective NON ACTION stemmed from our own collective hate.  Fed by the media, a train moving faster and faster until the inevitable crash happens.  Inevitable because we allow it, promote it and do NOTHING to stop it.    Is this the event that is painful enough to stop us?  Because if it isn’t, if we can’t get our act together, it’s going to happen again.  We have to come together and learn, let down guards, barriers and share ourselves with each other.  My contribution – the only thing I could think to do, using my knowledge and gifts and information is down further at the end.  I can’t just say all of this stuff without DOING something, or I’m no better than the media, or people that want to just sit around and bitch and complain.  But for now, for today – what can YOU do?

STOP ENGAGING IN ANGER, don’t play.  The things you don’t think make a difference, do.  Every snide remark, every resentment.  Every “oh, I got him!” Facebook post, showing strangers just how witty you are.  Everyone’s impressed.  You feel like a big shot.  Well, you just contributed to it.  We are creating this hostile atmosphere around us, without even knowing it.  Then it becomes something bigger.  We think this is about race, well today that’s the mask it wears.  That’s what works for today, this time.  That seems to always work, the old go to.  But it’s a nameless thing – a collective darkness like a rain cloud, quietly collecting moisture from the air, until it has enough it bursts, releasing what it has been drawing in and feeding on – and drops it all back down.  That’s what collective darkness looks like.  It does what it needs to do.  It divides.  It separates – it SEGREGATES.   And we fall for it every time.  Anger feeds it, Regret, Revenge, Sorrow – on all levels feeds this growing thing.  And then a Dylann Roof happens.  And we ask WHY?

But now, today and for about a week we’ll come together, stand side by side in streets, but I’ve already seen it, the articles creating the divide.  The conversations are already started.  Sneaking in, crawling in to cause the division…again.  Can we come together this time?  We’ll see.

How do I know all this?  The thing is – We all know it.  We know it because of memory.  We know it because of history.  I know it because I can see a much bigger picture, and  I can see into people’s hearts.  I know it because I can see the Book.  Everything we do is collected and contained.  Every action is there.  Because for whatever reason I can access that, I  can see it.  Some call it the Akashic Records, it’s been called the Book of Life, in physics it’s considered the Eathers,  in the Trinity it’s the Holy Spirit.   each and every interaction that we’ve ever done or ever will do is there.  When I work with people I can see it, I  can see theirs, through what I can only call something like a wormhole (again, physics plays a part) a tiny opening that they themselves provide with the very fact that they have reached out to me, placed the intention to do better.  So I can see it.  I can access their memories, but also their possible futures.  I am happy not to see the individual futures, although I’ve seen the collective one, and it’s exactly what we have created.  We all can do it, but choose not to, not to look so close.  We all have access to past memories – and each of them connects to an emotion, happy or sad, shameful, euphoric, tragic.  Feel one or two of them right now, from opposite ends of the spectrum….you can see what I mean.  Everything we have been through in our lives has contributed to the condition of our lives.  Attach to joy, the life contains joy, attach to pain, it is painful.  WE CHOOSE WHAT WE TAKE IN AND WHAT WE PUT OUT.  And lately, again, we have been choosing incorrectly.  We have been postponing coming together, we have been postponing unity, because as humans, we love the fight, we want to see how far we can PUSH it.  And then we get a Dylann Roof and ask, why??  We know why.  We fool ourselves by asking an empty question, so as not to accept what is ours, our own that we have created.  For that we need a Dylann Roof.

This that I have said is true.  People may not like it, people may dismiss or denounce it.  But it is what it is.  Because you have read this, something in you knows it’s true.   I am here to say it because it must be said.  So that at the end people can’t say, “But I didn’t know.”  You know.  You’ve always known.

Now what are you going to do to change it?  Start small – don’t engage in the political conversation, don’t click on the link that you KNOW will piss you off.  It’s hard at first, and we’ll still do it occasionally but as  time goes on – as we become entrained with a different way of thinking, let go of old relationships that no longer serve this way – we will do it less.  Look at created relationships instead of divided ones, and use them as your template.  We can do this.  We have to.  Because – and I know this with every fiber of who I am – it’s as easy or as hard as you want it to be.  Personally AND collectively.  What do you choose, and know that when you choose for yourself, you are choosing for all of us.  You are choosing for your children and your neighbor, whether you like it  or not.  This is the way it is, we are all so much more connected than we know.  Can you look at someone without having to understand why they are the way they are?  Who has not made a mistake?   Each of us have taken crosses upon our hearts, and created opportunities for others to do the same.  Can we UNCROSS our hearts?  Can we love without needing to know why?  Can we accept our brothers for who they are – all of our brothers?  Can we make this better?  Can we BE BETTER?  Start small – start where you are.  There is so much joy to be had, and it starts by Uncrossing hearts.  Holding tongues.  Holding judgment.  We have to make a change and we have to start NOW.  Start somewhere.  The alternative is much worse than any of us could possibly imagine.
