Traveling Psychic Supper Club ™

Hello again, it’s the best month of the year and I’ve finally got the fall dinners up on the site!

GREAT NEWS – for those of you who have been trying to get into a dinner but they are always full, we are doing a couple of bigger dinners – Halloween is going to be AMAZING – at Clay Pit, in a private room.  Sometimes we have issues with not being able to hear due to background restaurant noise now that the dinner have gotten bigger.  But at Clay Pit we will be in the Wine Room which is really beautiful and best of all – PRIVATE!  So I’m gonna kick it up a notch and make this dinner a costume affair.  Oh, yes and by the way, of course….Clay Pit is rumored to be supremely HAUNTED….

I hope Kirby will still show up, costumes AND Indian food may be too much for him but I hope not since I haven’t seen him in a while….   😉

So that’s all for now, I’m keeping this one short and sweet.  A lot has been going on, but I’ll write about that next time…for now-

HAPPY OCTOBER – Hope to see you soon!

South Congress Cafe – Lunch, Tarot and Scouting Restarurants

Friday I spent the day with fellow Traveling Psychic Supper Club member Susan Hansson – an amazingly gifted Tarot card reader, author of 3 books on Tarot and Intuitive formerly from the East Coast. In fact, I think she moved here to become a part of our group…Stranger things have definitely happened… We ducked in and out of boutiques and vintage stores on South Congress – no, I will NEVER call it SO-CO…

And landed in South Congress Cafe.

One of the great things about Susan, is if you are having a conversation, and have a question, she’ll say, “Well, let’s ask the cards.” So we did. Right there in the middle of South Congress Cafe.  She’s also available for persona readings, you can find her website below.

First, let me say, a couple of years ago this would have been unheard of for me. I’ve never really connected with Tarot, until meeting Susan.  Her style of reading is so wonderfully casual, it’s not like anything I’ve ever experienced before. Her style, is of course just like her. Easy to talk to. Positive. And always RIGHT ON THE MONEY. She gave me a wonderful gift of the Palladini Deck and Book set, which literally she wrote the book for.  Click the image to check it out on Amazon…it’s got a nice little chunk of the book there.  It’s out of stock at that location, but you can get the whole set here:

I’m so thankful for the gift because I wouldn’t have ever bought my own deck, because like I said, I’ve never really had an interest in Tarot. But Susan did a great job of showing me how to consult the deck, I was intrigued.  It’s not this big thing, like I thought.  It’s not what you think at all.  No incense.  No scarves draped over lamps.  No need for fanciness.  KNOWING Susan I let go of all those stereotypes.  Shes’ a regular person, like the rest of us in the Supper Club.  Click the pic or the link below to go straight to her website.  🙂

Tarot is easy.  Just a simple question, and an answer.  It can be a full reading or a single card pull.  I’d always steered clear of Tarot because I thought it was complicated.  It’s not.  And it’s for everyone who wants to use it, it’s just another tool.

SO anyway, she pulled out the cards and read them in the restaurant!  What a fun time.

Lots of people looking over, interested, or distracted…whatever you want to call it, I was totally into the reading, Susan was the  one that noticed what was going on around us…Back to the reading- it showed exactly what I thought it would, and introduced some new thoughts that were on the outside of my mind.  That’s one of the great things about the cards, they confirm and affirm, but also shed light on the outer edges of your thoughts.  Susan was the reader, but I weighed in as well.  We came to conclusions together.  It was perfect.   She sees things in the individual cards – and since she wrote the book, is very knowledgable of each and every one.  It’s really fascinating, and enlightening her take on every card, and it’s different every time, depending on the cards around that specific card.  Like I said, I’m still learning.  But I have an amazing mentor and teacher – and best of all friend.

And for any of y’all that notice the double Page of Pentacles – there’s a funny story as to why there are two in Susan’s specific personal deck.  the regular deck only has one of each card.  But for this specific reading, I’ll take a Double Page of Pentacles.  OH YEA!!

Oh, btw, the Crab Cakes at South Congress Cafe are delicious.  We also had the Seared Tuna Salad which was tasty as well.  If you’re over on South Congress – stop in for a Crab Cake, you’ll be glad you did!  Click the crab cake pic below to check out their website and menu…If you’ve eaten there’s what’s your favorite dish?  Anyway, happy Sunday, we’re off to the river…again!

Psychic Dinner #1 – January at Hoover’s

Saturday evening at Hoover’s was our first dinner of the year – 1 down, 11 to go.

This dinner was a little…disconnected. To start off I do need to say, Hoover’s is home cooking. Comfort food to the MAX. I had – what you must have at a place like Hoover’s – Chicken Fried Steak. Mashed Potatoes. Gravy. Fried Okra (which was top notch) and Mac and Cheese. Heart Healthy…probably not so much. But Delicious. We sat right in the middle of the restaurant, which, in hindsite wasn’t the best spot for conversation, Hoover’s is LOUD LOUD LOUD…so we had dinner there and then went to Bennu, staying on the East Side.

But back to disconnections. We were very spread out on one long table. So it made it very hard to talk from one end to the other. One note: Hoover’s does have a private room, which I didn’t know about, otherwise we definitely would have utilized it! Kirby was way at one end, Lacey and Susan all the way at the other. Kirby felt so far away…so it made it hard to talk. Adriana and Deana were new, and I wish they could have gotten a fuller experience – but from what I heard they were happy enough and will be back – yippee!

So one of the reasons for the Disconnect – we’ve been working on a pretty big project – that is still kind of hush hush – but it’s been on all of our minds so there was a little discussion here and there about that. A couple of us did decide however afterwards – no more outside stuff! We are the Traveling Psychic Supper Club, and we need to focus on psychic stuff. Sometimes you need to be reminded of the true purpose, when things feel…disconnected. There was some timely conversation about how a book I’ve been reading fit in perfectly with a situation that has been wrapping itself up in my life – and how external things come to us at just the right times…a book, a movie, a conversation – that can shed relevant light on a current situation. So I think, this project and the discussion about it was perfect for this dinner, but moving forward, will not be relevant again. Once we are all systems go – there won’t be a need.

So we ended up at Bennu – (losing Kirby along the way, then Susan, John and Adriana and Deana while we were there, but picking up Christine and Chris)- a great late night coffee shop/art gallery/workspace on MLK. 2013-01-26 19.07.31It was a little warm inside – it had been warm at Hoover’s too, so we opted for the outside seating. We could really spread out and talk which was nice, being able to hear each other, which wasn’t an option at Hoover’s. We had a little chat then a couple of us moved on to the Pump Project for an opening, that was from 7-10 and was still in full swing when we got there. So much in full swing in fact that it was a little overwhelming – all those people in such a bright white space was a lot for the empaths in us. Kelly and Lacey split after just a while – Jim and I left shortly after. The evening was kind of like a progressive dinner – that started with dinner! We moved from space to space, losing some, picking up some, and ending with Art. It wasn’t a normal dinner, it was a bit disconnected, but it was what it was, the first dinner of the year. 🙂

Oh yes, and we said farewell for now to Bobbie, who has flown away to create her way.  Bye Bobbie!  You’ll always be a member of TPSC!  All our best, and keep in touch… Anyone have anything to add?

Making it Happen – Chopped and Motor Coaches

I am so excited to see everyone tonight at Gloria’s.  I had to postpone last week’s scheduled dinner because I was sick.  I’m bummed because some people who could come last week can’t make it this week.  BUT some people who couldn’t make it last weekend can come tonight.  With this development I can only sit back and remember that whoever is there on any given night is perfect, and move forward.  Lacey, Kirby – you guys will be missed.  Bobbie, I look forward to seeing you again and meeting your friends.  I am looking forward to tonight with joy and excitement.  🙂

So while writing, we’re watching Chopped – (you can click the pic to go there, if you are new to the planet or something and don’t know what it is…) one of my daughter and my favorite shows.  We’ve been watching it for years, and over those years I’ve learned so much that I’ve applied to my own life.  In this episode on of the contestants has cut herself, not once but twice.  It’s almost excruciating to watch.  She worked through the adversity like a champ and remade a major component of her dish again, in the last 5 minutes before plating.  She got it on the plate and in front of the judges.  Unfortunately while getting her hand taken care of, her meat overcooked on the grill.  Ultimately she went home, but not because of the meat, but from overuse of raw garlic in the first round, and raw onion in the second.  What does this have to do with psychic stuff or the supper club?  Her remarks before leaving – she said,

“I’ll keep moving forward, this wasn’t my time.”

What an amazing outlook.

I am inspired.  Here’s why – She was smiling and so positive.  How many times have we thought, why not me?  Why not now? I did my best!!  Why couldn’t anyone see that?  Doesn’t that count??  It takes someone amazing to see a bigger picture.   To be able to step back and say, OK, something bigger than this is on the horizon.  I don’t know what it is, but I trust.  It just wasn’t my time.  Because my time is still coming.

When I started the Supper Club I believed in it.  I saw it.  There’s even the eye on our logo- SEE??

And we did it.  But after a couple of dinners I started to second guess.

Was this doing what I wanted it to do for the people who were coming?  I didn’t know.  I was only looking at it with my own eye.  My eye was judgmental.  My eye was afraid of failure or more than failure, mediocrity.

That was Lacey’s first dinner.  She rode with me.  It was Kelley’s first dinner too.  And Dina.  After an amazing time, unbelievably (now) when we got back in the car I told Lacey, I don’t know if I’m going to keep doing the dinners.  And she turned and looked at me with huge eyes and said, WHY NOT?  and she told me how SHE saw the dinners.  When she told me I think I may have started crying a little.  She told me how I had to keep doing them.  That was a turning point for me.  Now, months later, the dinners have become a part of not only my life, but a part of me.  When I walk into a restaurant, I’m looking at it with a new eye.  I’m thinking, is the spot for our next dinner?  Now I’m looking even further into the future.  Not just next month.  But the next 3 months.  I’m searching out places that are no just cool, or different, but AMAZING.  Because that’s what my people deserve.  Or that I think, maybe – just maybe – Kirby will try something here.  Or I want to try something here.  And I want to have the conversation I want to have.  With the people I want to have it with.  So I did it.  I created it.  So I want to ask you –

Well you can’t see me, or my eyes, but I am here to tell you –

SO what does this have to do with Chopped?  Or Motor Coaches?  Well, Chopped taught me that you can do so MUCH more than what you think you can.  I learned I can do anything in 2 minutes.  THAT’S what Chopped taught me.  as for the Motor Coach – I’m mobile right?  I’m the TRAVELING PSYCHIC.  for years (and this may sound crazy – but it’s MINE not YOURS) it’s been my dream to own a trailer.  Or a Camper or something.  Then, the day before Thanksgiving this pulled up.  Next Door.  LITERALLY almost in my own front yard.

And you know what I saw?  I saw it wrapped with TRAVELING PSYCHIC SUPPER CLUB.

Now this is a big dream.  This is a BIG motor coach.  It’s a CLASS A (which before that day I had no idea what that meant).  I had the pleasure of spending Thanksgiving dinner visiting with the owners, who are friends with my neighbors Veronica and Albert who had us over for the day.  It was a multiple blessing.  I got to go INSIDE!  AND it’s AMAZING!!  But that blessing came with a downsides…I learned that this motor coach costs more than my house.  Minor setback.  But this is part of my dream.  A dream I’ve had for years.  And it may not be time…yet.  Right now we are only meeting in restaurants in Austin.  But I want to see this country.  HA!  This country, THIS WORLD.  I want to share what I have with other people.  And have them share who they are and what they’ve got too.    It all goes back to being connected.  And sometime, whether it’s sooner or later, I’m taking this show on the road.  Thank you to everyone for being a part of who I am.  Thank you TRAVELING PSYCHIC SUPPER CLUB!  See you tonight!  or depending on who you are and where you live see you…SOMETIME!!
